What Vapi does
It answers the call, listens, and speaks. When the receptionist needs something done, such as checking a postal code or booking a slot, Vapi calls a tool on our backend and speaks the result.
Phone & voice
Live todayVapi is the voice platform behind the default Right On Call line. It hears the caller, runs the conversation, and speaks. It never decides who can be booked or what gets said about price. That is done by our backend.
It answers the call, listens, and speaks. When the receptionist needs something done, such as checking a postal code or booking a slot, Vapi calls a tool on our backend and speaks the result.
It owns the script, the greeting, and the tool definitions, and applies them to the live assistant. It enforces the guardrails in code: no diagnosis, no repair quotes, no invented availability, no self-cancel of existing appointments. A prompt edit is never the only thing standing in the way.
Nothing, by design. You see the number, the call record, and the transcript on the dashboard. Where recording is on, the audio is kept for the retention window on your plan and no longer than the vendor allows.
The line behaves the same at noon and midnight. Whether it answers first is your call: you can take it yourself and let the receptionist have what you miss.
The agent can be switched off from the dashboard, sending calls to a forward or voicemail instead, where the number is routed through Twilio.
Nothing for the shop to set up. We run this layer.
The script, greeting, and tools are applied to your line.
Tool calls and call-ended events reach our servers securely.
You call it on a private test line and mark what doesn’t sound like your shop.
No. We run it. You never log into Vapi.
Vapi processes the audio to run the call. The Privacy and Security pages list how call data is handled and kept.
Built, off by default, and not enabled for any shop today. Urgent calls text your on-call number.
