Compare

Right On Call vs the alternatives.

Every comparison below says where the other product wins. Most of them are cheaper to start. We are built for something narrower: the calls you would have missed, picked up and booked into the tools you already run.

The market on one page

Two questions separate these products more than price does. Who builds the call flow, you or the vendor? And when the call ends, do you get a message to return, or a job already in your calendar or field-service tool?

Message → job in your tools

You build it → built for you

Our read of the market, not a measurement. Across: who builds the call flow. Up: whether the call ends as a message or as a job in your own tools. Avoca sits near us; the difference is shop size and price.

Every comparison

Built for the calls you miss, not to replace the people who answer

Right On Call can answer every call if you want it to. That is not what it is built for. It is built so that a call you would have missed, on a roof, in a crawlspace, at lunch, after 5, on a Saturday, gets picked up and ends as a booked job instead of a voicemail nobody returns.

  • Built for your shop, not a template

We write the receptionist for one business at a time: your services, your service area, your emergency list, your on-call numbers, your greeting. You hear it before a customer does, and we tune it after launch.

  • It writes into the tools you already run

The call ends inside your systems, not in another inbox. Live today: Cal.com, Calendly, Google Calendar, Outlook / Microsoft 365, Jobber, Zoho CRM, Zoho Invoice. The booking, the client, and the job land where your office already looks.

  • Pricing you can read in one line

$150 a month in Canadian dollars for 200 answered minutes, then $0.75 a minute, billed to the second, so an extra minute costs what an included one does. $500 setup, paid once. No term, no credits, no tokens.

  • A dropped call is not a lost job

Callers hang up. Cell signal drops in a basement. When a call ends before anything is booked, the caller gets a text, the shop gets the details, and the job can still land on the calendar.

How we compared

Competitor prices and features come from each vendor's published pages and from independent reviews, checked September 26, 2026. Where sources disagree, the page says so instead of picking the number that suits us. Each page lists its sources.

Our prices on every comparison come from the same file as our pricing page, and every capability claim is checked against what the product does today. Where we do not do something a competitor does, like live call transfer, we say so on that page.

Common questions

Which AI receptionist is cheapest?

Self-serve products like Rosie, Goodcall, and My AI Front Desk start lower than Right On Call, and building your own on a voice platform is cheaper still per minute. The cheapest plan is not always the cheapest month: check what booking costs, what happens when you go over, and whether the call ends as a job or a message you still have to return.

Is Right On Call a receptionist replacement?

It can answer every call, but that is not what it is built for. It is built to pick up the calls you would have missed, on a job, after hours, on weekends, and book them. You keep answering first when you can.
