Quick answer
Yes. Ask it, and it says it is an AI.
The receptionist never claims to be a person. Whether it also says so before anyone asks is a setting on your line.
Have your counsel check. This page is not legal advice. Have your counsel check the notice wording, and the rules for every province and state you take calls from, before your line goes live.
What it does on a call
- Asked whether it is a person, a robot or an AI, it says it is an AI assistant, on every call.
- An optional line in the greeting can say so up front. It is off unless you turn it on, and you approve the wording.
- The recording notice is a different line, spoken only when one is configured. See call recording consent.
Who is on the other end
Right On Call is software, not a staffed answering service. The voice that answers is an AI agent, and we employ no human receptionists. When a caller needs a person, your own team is texted and calls back. What happens when the AI cannot help covers that handoff.
Common questions
Does the AI receptionist tell callers it is an AI?
Yes, when asked. If a caller asks whether they are talking to a person, a robot or an AI, the receptionist always says it is an AI assistant. It never claims to be a person.
Can it say so before the caller asks?
Yes. An up-front line in the greeting can be switched on for your line. It is a setting, and you approve the wording during setup.
Is that the same as the recording notice?
No. The recording notice says the call is recorded and is spoken only when one is configured on your line. The AI disclosure says what is answering. They are separate lines.
Am I legally required to disclose that an AI answers my calls?
We cannot answer that for your business, and the rules can differ by province and state. Have your counsel check, including for any US callers.
