Field service

On request

The call becomes a Housecall Pro job, for shops on MAX.

Housecall Pro only opens its API to shops on its MAX plan, and the connection here is built around that. When it is on, a finished call can become a customer, a service address, and a job in the tool your office already dispatches from.

On request. Not live yet. The connection exists but has not been proven on a real Housecall Pro account. We enable and test it with you during setup, and only a shop on MAX can use it.

A job ticket connected by a dashed line to a phone, the call becoming a job

How the connection actually works

What gets sent

After the call ends: the caller’s name, mobile number, and email, then the service street, unit, city, province, and postal code, then a job with notes that hold the title, the call summary, each item with brand and issue, the priority, the booked window if there is one, and the Right On Call call id. The lead source is set to Right On Call.

What gets created

The customer is matched on phone number or email and only reused when one really matches, so a job is never filed under a neighbour. Otherwise a customer is created. The service address is added if it is new. Then a job is created on that customer and address.

What stays yours

No technician is assigned and no schedule is set. Who goes, and when, stays your decision in Housecall Pro. The booked window rides along in the job notes.

Daytime and after hours

During the day

A call you answer yourself never reaches Right On Call, so nothing is written. A call the receptionist takes writes to Housecall Pro right after it ends.

After hours

Same write at any hour. The overnight call is an unassigned job with its notes, waiting for the office.

What scoping would look like

We do this with you, because it has not been proven on a live account yet.

  1. Confirm you are on MAX

Housecall Pro gives API access only on its MAX plan.

  2. Generate a key

In Housecall Pro, an admin opens My Apps, then API Key Management, and generates a key with Full access.

  3. Paste it on the dashboard

Paste the key into the Housecall Pro card on the Right On Call Integrations page and Save. The key is checked with Housecall Pro before it is stored, and it is stored encrypted.

  4. Test it with us

We make a test call and check the customer, address, and job in Housecall Pro before it handles real calls.

Limits and edge cases

  • A call where no service address was captured creates nothing in Housecall Pro, because a job there requires an address. The call record still has everything.
  • It needs a key with Full access. A key that is read-only, deleted, or from a shop no longer on MAX is refused.
  • There is no OAuth for this connection. Housecall Pro reserves that for its verified partners.
  • Not a Housecall Pro App Store listing.

This is for

  • Shops already on Housecall Pro MAX that want the overnight call waiting as a job.

This isn't

  • Shops on a lower Housecall Pro plan. Use the calendar connection, or move to MAX.
  • Shops that want a technician assigned automatically. That is your dispatch.

What we won't claim

  • Assign an employee or set a schedule.
  • Quote a price or diagnose a fault in the job notes.
  • Work on Housecall Pro plans below MAX.
  • Claim to be a live, proven integration. It is on request until it has run on a real account.

Housecall Pro questions

Why is this on request if it is built?

Because it has not yet run against a real Housecall Pro account. We would rather switch it on with you and test it than call it live before it has been proven.

Why do I need the MAX plan?

Housecall Pro only offers API access on MAX. Without it there is no key to generate.

Will it create duplicate customers?

It looks for an existing customer by phone number or email first and reuses it only when one matches. A caller who matches neither is created as a new customer.
